I am fascinated by petroglyphs and pictographs (rock painting),
ancient man's mysterious symbols, either primative or elegant.

Petroglyphs are man-made images which were pecked, scratched or incised into stone.

Petroglyphs date back thousands of years and are found all over the world. They were used by early man to record events, visions and story telling.

Such pictures convey ideas or meaning without the use of words, sounds or other language form.

This primitive method of communication is known is pictography and it formed the basis of the Chinese and Japanese characters used today.

Since many of the images have unknown meaning, there is an intriuging mystery about them.

Petroglyphs are often located at spiritual centers and when gazing at them one can wonder at ancient wisdom.
